Every Side Hustle Is Profitable. You Just Give Up Too Soon.

Side hustles are exhausting.

I can tell you from my experience. Every day, I want to give up on myself. Not seeing desired results and returns from my side-hustle makes me want to quit. I lose the vocation to follow writing passion daily. I often think if I should stick only to my 9–5 job.

I thought there’s something wrong with me being so negative about myself. But science said it’s normal.

The “pleasure principle” says our brains are wired to give up easily. The reason for it is “instant gratification.” If we don’t experience pleasure or fulfillment instantly, our motivation and inspiration wear thin.

This made me think a lot about my side hustle’s route map. I realized I don’t have a “failure plan.”

What will I do if I fail?
How will I keep my energies aligned with my goals?
How will I cope up with my mental health?

I never asked myself these questions before investing my energy into a side hustle until recently.

Whenever we set goals, we only think about the bright prospects — “If I win, I will do this, I will buy a car, I will have a beach vacation, etc.” But, no one really plans for a probable “failure.” Result?

An overpowering feeling to “give up.”

To combat this unwanted negative thought of “quitting,” I prepared a failure plan for myself. It has held me strong for over eight months enabling me to juggle between my 9–5 job and blogging side hustle with ease. Showing up every time has also gifted me the returns in four figures.

#1. Find Comfort in Discomfort

Comfort is toxic.
Discomfort is inevitable.

I realized this harsh reality of success very late. Many unfavorable situations came to test my grit and teach me this lesson. But I only cursed them and sulked about it.
