So how do you ensure you’re doing everything possible to set yourself up for career success?
When I finished studying, I sought a lot of advice from people. Some told me to learn as much as I could; others advised me to start earning money as soon as possible.
But the best advice I ever received came from my Dad:
Every career has two choices: Learn or Earn. If you get nothing, then quit and move on.
Life’s too short to hold onto something that serves no purpose.”
This career advice has empowered me to quit countless jobs in the past and grow as an individual.
Now that I’ve become an entrepreneur living on my terms, I truly realize why this career advice can make lives meaningful.
Earning = Rewarding Yourself for The Efforts
Earning means getting rewards — Whether it’s receiving a paycheck for working hard at a day job or being given a gift from a loved one. Earning is the return gift for what you offer in terms of effort, time, love, and dedication.
Earning is a sense of satisfaction. You know you’re adding value to a process. You are assured that your resources — skills, knowledge, and time are put to the best use.
Earning can also be a measure of success. It’s one thing to get paid for what you do, but it’s another to achieve something noteworthy that garners attention, respect, and love.
When people talk about your accomplishments, it indicates your “earning potential.”
